EUGENIA MANOLIDES' MAGIC MUSICAL EVENING

Eugenia Manolides' Olympic Symphonic Concert was performed with great success. The audience welcomed with enthousiasm the symphonic tale "Two Cultures, One Spirit", which was inspired by the union of the two ancient civilizations, the Greek and the Chinese, through the Olympic Games.

The concert was presented in the framework of the Cultural Year of Greece in China and had been placed under the auspices of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG), as part of the official program of the cultural events of the Olympic Games.

The Orchestra of the Opera of China performs Eugenia Manolides' Olympic Symphonic Concert.

During the Beijing Olympic Games the Chinese public will have the opportunity to enjoy the Olympic Symphonic Concert written by composer and conductor Eugenia Manolides, who will also conduct the Orchestra and Choir of the China Opera in the Chinese capital's Concert Hall.This is a symphonic tale, influenced by the union of the two ancient civilizations in the Olympic Games, whose texts and lyrics were written by Dr.John Poulakos, Professor of Rhetoric at the University of Pittsburg.The concert is presented in the framework of the Cultural Year of Greece in China and has been placed under the auspices of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG), as part of the official program of the cultural events of the Olympic Games.

Eugenia Manolides' first attempt to combine prose, music and dance. Excellent choice of actors, musicians and dancers that present philosophical issues in a classically modern point of view. Two old friends accidentally meet again and discuss about the mythical musical competition between the two gods of music, Apollo and Dionysus. Harps, flutes, percussion, Mainades and Deliades make the audience travel along the symbols of the Ancient Greek civilization : Where history surrenders to fantasy...

Eugenia Manolides' concert at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall was a great success. Andreas Papanicolaou performed as a soloist the Violin Concerto by Samuel Barber under Eugenia's direction. Maria Kokka (soprano) and Zachos Terzakis (tenor) sang exceprts from Manolides' latest award winning work EPOS. The concert was supported by the City of Thessaloniki with the collaboration of the municipality of Panorama. The realization of the concert was an initiative of the AHEPA organization.

Concert celebrating International Mother´s Day

On Tuesday May 9th, the Athens´ municipal symphony orchestra will perform in the American Community School˘s Auditorium (Halandri, Athens). Michalis Economou will conduct Joseph Haydn˘s symphony n. 104 in D, for the first part of the concert. In the second part, Eugenia Manolides will conduct her work «Greek Hymns», which is based on ancient greek orphic hymns. Soloists: Hara Kefala (soprano) and Konstantinos Paliatsaras (tenor).Eugenia, being herself a mother of three children accepted the invitation of the municipality of Halandri and the greek ministry of internal affairs with great enthousiasm. This concert promotes and supports the efforts of women throughout the world who strive to combine the contradicting roles of motherhood and carrier. Moreover, the organizing committee will raise money for the greek union against breast cancer.
